M&S Christmas food range is here and it's a delightful festive treat

By Ria Tesia

The countdown to Christmas has begun as shoppers gear up for the biggest event of the year on the calendar.

M&S Food has announced their Christmas must-haves this year, launching in stores up and down the country from tomorrow.

Last year’s sell-out gifts were given sparkly, light-tastic makeovers to produce gifts that include the world’s first ever light up chocolate box.

Christmas is clearly on Brits’ minds, who are ready to start the celebrations early this year.

Last week alone there were 500,000 searches for Christmas on the M&S website and already M&S has sold nearly 1,000 frozen turkeys as shoppers start prepping for the festive season.

Here is a list of Christmas must-haves launched by M&S Food to make you hungry for festive treats in September.

1. M&S Christmas Light-Up Snow Globe Liqueurs

The sell-out Snow Globe Liqueurs are back with two brand new flavours, brand new bottle designs, and silver leaf for the very first time.

Spiced Sugar Plum Gin Liqueur complete with shimmery edible silver snowflakes is new to the range and the silver leaf mimics snowfall perfectly.

Madagascan Vanilla Spiced Rum Liqueur is also new and joins last year’s favourite Clementine Gin Liqueur.

The light-up bottles are inspired by The Nutcracker ballet, so it will be a real treat to catch a showing of this whilst it’s on the television whilst sipping one of these tasty tipples.

2. M&S Christmas Light-Up Chocolate Boxes

The world’s first ever lit-up chocolate box is sure to be a hit with adults and children alike.

Lift the lid on these pretty mini snow-dusted milk, dark, white and golden blond chocolate houses and watch the stars inside the box twinkle in a dazzling festive scene.

Once chocolates are finished, the box can be kept to store other treats, to enjoy the novelty lights throughout the year.

3. M&S Christmas Shortbread Light-Up Houses

Another world first for M&S as the humble biscuit box is given the light-tastic treatment.

These pretty tins come in three colours and are filled with the M&S signature all-butter Scottish shortbread, making them the perfect gifts for just a fiver each.

The tins double up as not only Christmas gifts, but collectibles too. Collect all three, create your own mini light-up village and pour a cup of tea to enjoy with your shortbread.

4. M&S Christmas Cocktails from ‘The Marksologist’

Festive happy hour can be enjoyed at home by inviting ‘The Marksologist’ to your Christmas party.

The newly launched drinks range is a collection of six premium, ready-to-drink cocktails designed to replicate the experience of a 5-star cocktail bar in your own home.

The M&S mixologists have done the hard work so you don’t have to, ensuring that even if a garnish is missing, the cocktails are still mixed to perfection.

The cocktails are perfectly balanced, meaning you can serve great tasting drinks every time with no cocktail knowledge or experience required. Classic favourites including margarita, negroni and espresso martini.

5. M&S Golden Blond Chocolate range

The Golden Blond is the latest addition to the M&S chocolate range, made by slowly caramelising white chocolate over several hours.

This ingredient is used in a number of sweet treats this year including Golden Blond Chocolate Florentines, Golden Blond Chocolate & Nut Selection and the indulgent Triple Chocolate Panettone.

If this flavour is your favourite, you’ll be happy to know that you can also drink it as a Golden Blond Chocolate Cream Liqueur.

6. Make room for M&S Magical Mushrooms

Dive into a box of Magical Mushrooms at Christmas.

Hand-decorated Belgian milk and golden blond chocolates are filled with a rich Piedmont hazelnut praline centre that look and taste good too.

7. M&S Christmas Pudding Truffles mash up two popular flavours this festive season

Christmas pudding flavour truffles are packed with the rich flavours of a traditional Christmas pud and creamy chocolate.

This is another first for M&S, whose mash-up will appeal to those wanting their traditional Christmas pudding with a twist.

Expect fruity, dark chocolate notes, and because it is boozy, this is strictly a treat for grown-ups.

8. M&S Christmas Biscuit Tin

Christmas is the time to sit in the front of the telly with a Christmas tin nestled in your lap as you munch away on biscuity treats galore.

This year sees the M&S Christmas biscuit tin emblazoned in an eye-catching graphic design.

The tin is packed with pretty biscuits filled with hazelnut praline, salted caramel and smothered with indulgent Belgian chocolate.

April Preston, Director of Product Development, said: “I can’t wait for customers to see the collection of gifts we’ve created this year, bursting with that signature M&S magic you know and love.

“Our iconic light-up snow globe liqueurs have been given a new look and we have introduced a gorgeous spiced sugar plum flavour, along with our first ever rum liqueur – a must try.”

“The golden blond chocolate can be found in many of our sweet treats including our Magical Mushrooms, whilst our new range of premium pre-mixed cocktails would make Tom Cruise proud. There’s so much more to come throughout the season, so keep your eyes peeled.”
