Marks and Spencer has launched a new afternoon tea in select locations - and it's in time for Mother's Day.
The beloved retailer, which was founded in 1884, is famed for its extensive array of on-trend fashion and lifestyle products, as well as its consistently popular food halls. In addition, the high street giant also boasts an in-house café at many of its stores.
On March 13, the iconic retailer launched its new afternoon tea deal. Afternoon tea is incredibly popular, with venues who offer it often booking up in record time. Marks and Spencer's new offering will face tough competition in a city with such a varied mix of options.

M&S Café's new service costs £12.50 per person, and includes a luxury sandwich selection; an all-butter scone with Cornish clotted cream and fresh strawberries; a mini chocolate cupcake topped with buttercream; French macaron; cinnamon Palmier biscuit, and luxury Fairtrade tea. For those craving a bit of fizz, a mini bottle of Conte Priuli Oro Prosecco can be added for £5.
Claire Hodgson, lead product developer for Hospitality at M&S said: "We are extremely excited to launch this five-star quality Afternoon Tea for £12.50, so Café fans across the nation can enjoy a delicious treat with loved ones whatever the occasion.
"As you would expect, every item is made using the very best ingredients from British chicken and British outdoor reared ham in our sandwiches to Cornish clotted cream in our scones. After all, this is not just any tea, this is an M&S Afternoon Tea."
The new M&S Café Afternoon Tea is available in selected Cafes from 2pm from Monday, March 13 2023.

Sandwich Selection
- Farmhouse Cheddar cheese with vine ripened tomatoes, pickle and lettuce on malted brown bread
- British roast chicken breast, cucumber, and rocket on malted brown bread
- Egg mayonnaise with watercress on malted brown bread
- British outdoor-bred smoked ham with mustard mayonnaise on oatmeal bread
Fruit Scone
- Light and fluffy all-butter scone served with Cornish clotted cream, strawberry jam and fresh strawberries
Sweet Selection
- Mini chocolate cupcake topped with caramel, vanilla or chocolate buttercream (choice of one), hand finished with salted caramel crispies, cookie crumbs or toffee pieces
- French Almond Macaron delicately baked for a crisp exterior and a softer centre
- Cinnamon Palmier Biscuit - a crisp all-butter puff pastry heart glazed with a caramelised cinnamon sugar
