Marks & Spencer has caused outrage among shoppers for selling 'posh' beans on toast as a Christmas snack.
While beans on toast is usually considered a budget friendly meal, M&S appears to be selling it as a "posh canape" - and it's safe to say that not everyone agrees.
The high street store is selling "Posh Cheesy Beans on Toast" for £5 as part of their mouth-watering Christmas party food range.
However, some customers have branded the festive offering 'a joke.'
M&S posted the snack on Facebook on Sunday and wrote: "Party season has started in the Foodhall! Have you tried our posh cheesy beans on toast yet?
"Made with brioche bread and haricot beans in tomato sauce with a creamy Barber’s mature cheese melt, they’re mega-moreish. Find these and plenty more party-food favourites in store now!"

While most of M&S' party food has gone down quite a storm, the notion that beans on toast can be considered 'posh' has caused an uproar from some shoppers who took to social media to voice their opinions.
The retailer shared an image of their delicious party food range for Christmas this year on their Facebook page.
Hundreds of shoppers flocked to the comments to express thier dismay over the idea that beans on toast could be considered as anything other than a simple dinner time meal.
"Put the word ‘posh’ in front to attract?? I’m a big M&S fan but this year I’m afraid to say, you’ve failed" wrote one unimpressed shopper.
"Beans on toast - party food! Someone is having a laugh" wrote another unenthusiastic shopper.
A third commented: "There is nothing exciting or posh about a cheesy beans on toast canapé, need to think again for 2022 sorry."
A fourth shopper commented: "I wouldn’t pay that much for these when I could slice some brioche or baguette up and make them so easily myself. You’d get a lot more for the same money."
Other comments joked that they would need to be 'upping their party game' this year by whipping up a batch of the household staple to, hopefully, impress their guests with their culinary skills.
The £5 party canape also attracted a comments from shoppers on Twitter with one shopper saying: "Are M&S really out here trying to make “beans on toast” sound fancy and gourmet to appeal to their upper-middle class customer base?"
"This isn't just a rip-off. This is an M&S rip-off. Cheesy beans on toast for a fiver as party food?. Pull the other one, chaps" joked another user.
