M.E.N breakfast event will explore how technology is changing the way we work

Manchester Evening News and IWG have joined forces to host a series of breakfast events.

The first event, taking place on October 3, will explore how technology is changing the way we work.

More than two-thirds of global employees working remotely every week, and over 50 per cent are doing so for at least half of the week.

The emergence of this mobile workforce has partly been driven by technological change, transforming the way we work in the UK today.

New technologies, data analytics and social networks have all had an impact on the way that people communicate, collaborate and work.

Ultimately, with the internet, cloud communications and smart devices, it’s never been easier to plug in and work from anywhere.

The event will also look at how digitisation is providing new possibilities for collaboration in the workplace.

The breakfast events will be chaired by well-known regional journalist Chris Maguire.

Panelists will be revealed shortly.

The first event will take place at Regus - Manchester Digital World Centre, The Quays, Salford between 8am-10am.

A further two events will explore the Future of work: flexible working as the “new normal” and Start-up Success: using flexible workspace to grow a business.

Richard Morris, CEO UK IWG, said: “Demand for flexible office space is growing rapidly across the country and Manchester is one of the city’s leading this charge.

In fact, estimates highlight that flexible office space in the city is expected to double in the next four years as people increasingly recognise they can be far more productive and successful in a dynamic working environment.

“Meanwhile, businesses are also waking up to the financial and strategic benefits of flexible working.

“We look forward to supporting the region’s burgeoning business economy and the diverse and exciting local businesses that call Manchester ‘home’ and continue to showcase it as a great place to set up shop.”
