Lyra McKee murder: Police carry out search of production company premises in Paris

Police investigating the murder of Lyra McKee have carried out a search in Paris, France.

Detectives from the PSNI's Major Investigation Team conducted a search of a production company in Paris earlier today, Tuesday, December 7.

The search was led by two French judges, with assistance of the French police.

Police believe a camera crew from the production company was in Derry throughout the week of Lyra's murder.

A number of items have been recovered for further examination.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said: "Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland's Major Investigation Team, who are investigating the murder of journalist Lyra McKee, conducted a search of a production company in Paris earlier today (Tuesday 7 December) led by two French judges, with assistance of the French police.

"Detectives believe that a camera crew from the production company was in Derry/Londonderry throughout the week of Lyra's murder. A European Investigation Order was carefully considered, sought, and granted by Belfast Crown Court and the search was later approved and supported by senior members of the French judiciary.

"A number of items have been recovered for further examination."

Ms McKee, 29, was shot dead in Derry in April 2019 as she observed rioting in the Creggan area.

A group styling itself as the New IRA has previously claimed it was responsible for killing the author.
