Lyons crime clan associate Andy Gallacher 'attacked in jail'

Lyons crime clan associate Andy Gallacher has reportedly been attacked in jail.

It is understood the senior member of the notorious gangster gang was painting another inmates cell when he was set upon from behind.

Gallacher suffered a gash to the back of his head while carrying out the decorating job.

Prison wardens at HMP Addiewell raced to the scene to separate the 43-year-old , who fought back with his roller, sources said.

Gallacher is one of six men who were convicted in May 2019 for conspiracy to murder.

Jurors heard how the men were associates of the Lyons criminal family and they were found guilty of plotting attempts to kill five men linked to their rivals, the Daniel family, including ex-taxi firm boss Steven “ Bonzo ” Daniel.

The six were locked up for a total of 104 years.

Gallacher, Brian Ferguson and John Hardie were all each jailed for 20 years.

Robert Pickett was locked up for 16 years while Peter Bain was sentenced to 15 years.

Andrew Sinclair was jailed for 13 years and three months.

Prosecutors then moved for them to be slapped with Serious Crime Prevention Orders (SCPO) after they were sentenced.

This can allow police to keep tabs on a criminal’s business dealings, communications and movement once they get out of jail.

The Scottish Prison Service and Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
