Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas wants to arrange a memorial match against Liverpool to honour the memory of Gerard Houllier.
Houllier, who managed the Reds between 1998 and 2004 before then moving to the Ligue 1 club, died in December and Aulas wants a trophy named after the manager that Liverpool and Lyon will compete for.
"Gerard is a great footballer, he has been admired wherever he has gone, ” Aulas told Eurosport via L'Equipe.
"He won wherever he went, including England and Liverpool. We are preparing here everything that will allow us to memorize this fantastic man who had become a friend."
Aulas also confirmed that his club are set to name their training centre after Houllier and erect a memorial to him.
"It is to remember what this great man gave us, saved a lot of things, gave us a lot of advice, ” he added.
"Gerard was available at all times, with great kindness."
