Lyon face Rangers Europa League sweat as clock ticks on decision for two key men ahead of Ibrox clash

Lyon are still sweating over permission for key man Lucas Paqueta and Bruno Guimaraes to travel to Scotland for Thursday's clash with Rangers.

The pair were released for international duty with Brazil last week, but the South American nation is on the UK's red travel list.

The two played in Ligue 1 against Strasbourg on Sunday night, having undergone Covid tests ahead of the match, but it was reported last week they would not be permitted to cross the channel for the Europa League opener.

Lyon have applied to UEFA for an exemption, but Le Progres reports that as of Monday night there had been no response from the governing body.

The clock is well and truly ticking for OL, who will fly out to Scotland on Wednesday morning and will not return until Friday night having chosen to stay in Glasgow after the match.

Should the two Brazilian players be barred it would represent a boost for Steven Gerrard 's side.

Former Milan forward Paqueta has hit two goals in five games so far this season, while his compatriot provided the assist for Moussa Dembele's stunning opener against Strasbourg on Sunday.
