Lyon chief admits they will listen to offers for Houssem Aouar amid Man City speculation

Lyon sporting director Juninho had admitted that the club will 'analyse' any offers they receive for star midfielder Houssem Aouar, amid rumours of a move to Manchester City.

Following a disappointing defence of their Premier League title this season, Pep Guardiola may look to refresh his squad in the transfer window this summer.

While other areas of the pitch are in much more need of improvement, a new midfielder may potentially be on his list as captain David Silva will leave the club once the campaign finally concludes.

Young star Phil Foden has been earmarked as the heir to Silva's throne for years and there may not be any need to splash out on a replacement for the departing Spaniard, but that hasn't halted speculation.

The midfielder who has been linked with a move to the Etihad the most is easily the talented Aouar, who Guardiola has showered with praise in the past.

The Frenchman played brilliantly in both games against the Blues in the Champions League group stages in the 2018/19 season, as Lyon won in Manchester then drew 2-2 in the reverse fixture, after which Guardiola said: "Houssem Aouar is a very good player. He is incredible.

"We talk a lot about [Tanguy] Ndombele, but Aouar is also excellent. He's always very calm with the ball at his feet, with an excellent technical quality."

It's of little surprise that City have been repeatedly linked with the 21-year-old and Juninho has admitted that Lyon don't tend to keep players as talented as him for long.

"Houssem was formed here, he has been here for a long time," the Brazilian said.

"He brings us the technical touch required in midfield. But we know that the majority of youth academy talents here, who have Houssem’s talent, have left at one moment or another. It is the president who will decide. If we receive offers, we will analyse them. He is an important player.”
