Lyndon Dykes commits future to QPR by signing new contract

Lyndon Dykes has committed his future to Queen's Park Rangers.

The Scotland international has ended any speculation surrounding his future by penning a new contract at Loftus Road, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2026.

There had been links between the Australian-born striker and Rangers this summer.

When the 27-year-old was still at Livingston in 2020, there was speculation claiming Rangers were interested in a move.

Nothing materialised and Dykes moved down south to join the R's.

Some of the transfer talks had resurfaced this summer, with Rangers looking for new attacking options this summer.

Boss Michael Beale also briefly worked with the towering frontman at QPR last season before he made the move to Ibrox to take over the reins following the sacking of Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

But having scored 29 goals in 120 for QPR, Dykes has committed his future to the club for the next three years.

Dykes commented: "When I got the call about extending my stay here it was a no-brainer. It’s somewhere I want to stay, you look at the new training ground and the club’s going in a direction I want to go.

“Last year was a tough year but it’s behind us. Going forward, the manager coming in and having the pre-season with the full squad together it’s the direction we all want to be going in.

“The new training facilities are Premier League standard and from talking to people above that’s were they want to go. I want to play in the Premier League and hopefully I can do it with this club.

“So many years ago I’d never have expected to play in England for a club like this but also for international stage with Scotland. Every year I’m getting better. There’s always room for improvement. My best is yet to come."

Boss Gareth Ainsworth said: “I am really pleased to be able to secure Lyndon because he’s been a fantastic servant so far for the club and he’s only going to get better.

“This is really good news and I’m sure he can lead the line really well for us this year.

“I was gutted he was out when I arrived last season but when he came back, he played a big part and I’m looking forward to getting the best out of him this season because with his international streak at the moment, he’s only going to get better.

“He will run through a brick wall for the team because that’s the character he is.

“He’s at a great age, he loves this club, he gives everything for the club, and that’s part of the mantra that I want from my players.”
