Lyndon Dykes casts verdict on his big Scotland chance vs Denmark

Lyndon Dykes has cast his verdict on his big Scotland chance against Denmark on Friday evening.

The national team began their latest World Cup qualification campaign with a hard-earned goalless draw in Copenhagen.

Neither team were without opportunities, and perhaps Scotland's best of the match fell to Dykes in the second half.

Che Adams was played down the line and he crossed the ball to his strike partner. Before he knew it, after taking a touch, the chance got away from Dykes.

"I definitely should've hit it first-time with my right foot," he told BBC Scotland post-match.

"I didn't know the guy was behind me, and by the time he was there, I'd taken the touch. Yeah, [I'm] a little bit disappointed with that.

"On another night, I score that. Hopefully, Monday will be the night."

A point away from home against the top seeds in the qualification group is by no means a bad result for Scotland.

Their attention now turns to facing Belarus in Hungary on Monday evening.

The team are targetting three points: "We have to take the point and obviously get a result on Monday, which would put us in a good place," said Dykes.

"We wanted six points, but now we have to focus on the four.

"It's not going to be easy, and we need to make sure we turn up and we have another great performance like tonight, and hopefully be a bit more clinical at the other end and make sure we get three points."
