JD Vance has been the Vice President of the United States for over eight months now, but by some counts, he’s clocked maybe eight actual working days in office. The rest of the time? He’s been either on vacation or busy peddling false narratives to keep the MAGA base entertained.
As Congress barrels toward the Sept. 30 deadline, the House Democrats and Republicans are clashing over a spending bill crafted entirely by Trump’s party without a single shred of Democratic input. But using the time to spin up a new chapter in his ever-growing political fiction anthology, Vance alleged today on X that Democrats are about to cause a government shutdown “because they demand we fund healthcare for illegal aliens.”
However, Vance’s claim has nothing but the accuracy of a flat-earth pamphlet. To fulfill the 60-vote requirement and pass the bill in the Senate, Republicans require at least seven votes from Democrats. So, predictably, Democrats are leveraging that need to push for changes on spending caps, Medicaid, and ACA subsidies, all of which apply to legal residents, not undocumented immigrants.
So, Vance’s dramatic claim that Democrats are plotting to throw taxpayer dollars at “illegal aliens” isn’t just misleading, it’s a flat-out fabrication. In one user’s words, “he’s once again lying right through his eyeliner,” swapping policy for performance and governance for gossip.
Outraged at Vance’s continuous and deliberate attempt to mislead, users on X quickly tore through his narrative: “Democrats demand restoration of ACA subsidies, which were cut in the Republican budget. These subsidies keep costs down for citizens. ‘Illegals’ aren’t eligible,” one wrote, flatly dismantling his claim. Another took a direct jab at him, calling him “either stupid or intentionally gaslighting America,” highlighting how Republicans are once again trying to gut Americans’ healthcare, and Democrats’ fight “has nothing to do with immigrants.”
But one sentiment that echoed throughout the comment section was of frustration and disappointment. They repeatedly pointed out how Vance seems committed to manufacturing imaginary stories whenever his party needs cover for another disastrous policy. One user rightfully reminded the MAGA clown of a glaring fact he conveniently left out: Democrats don’t control the House or the Senate. His own party does. Which makes his finger-pointing at Democrats for the potential shutdown not only dishonest, but laughably self-defeating.
