One of the Lake District's most recognisable boutique hotels is set to undergo a multi-million pound transformation to become a luxury spa resort.
The Swan Hotel in Newby Bridge, close to Lake Windermere, has secured a £7m investment.
The money will see the four-star hotel extended to include an extra 30 bedrooms, as well as luxury spa facilities.
Located just over an hour from Greater Manchester, it's one of the more easily-accessed staycation spots in the Lake District.
The Cumbrian hotel will have a hydrotherapy pool, thermal rooms, relaxation areas and treatment rooms as well as a café in its new spa facility.
The existing pool will be retained and used as a family-friendly swimming pool.
The Swan is now recruiting for 20 new full- and part-time jobs and launching an apprenticeship scheme.
Yorkshire-based property development and hotel group BH Group, also behind Hotel Indigo in Manchester city centre, have recently acquired The Swan.

The proposed extension will really take the hotel to the next level, so that we can deliver that ultimate top class, luxury experience."
Managing director of the Swan, Sarah Gibbs, added: "We can't wait for the renovations to get under way, we have some incredible plans and I think guests are going to be blown away when we get to reveal it all next year."
The Swan is expected to open in its new guise by summer next year.
