Luxury mansion where four Manson murders took place listed on market for £63million

The luxurious mansion where the Manson family murdered four people is on the market for £62.9million ($85m).

Known as the Cielo Estate, the nine-bedroom, 18-bathroom pad currently belongs to American screenwriter Jeff Franklin.

Franklin hosted the reception for stand-up comedian Bob Saget's funeral at the home on Saturday.

The house is based in Beverly Hills, California, in a prime location – but comes with a gruesome history.

Franklin originally purchased the house for the rock-bottom price of $6 million in 2007 when it was still a construction site.

The property was demolished after the 1969 murders of pregnant actress Sharon Tate, Abigail Folger, Jay Sebring and Wojciech Frykowski.

On the night of 8 August 1969, four members of Charles Manson's family murdered the group at the home Tate shared with husband Roman Polanski under the direction of Charles Manson.

Three of the members who carried out the brutal slayings - Tex Watson, Susan Atkins, and Patricia Krenwinkeln - were sentenced to death.

Their punishment was later commuted to life imprisonment after California scrapped the death penalty.

Another member present, Linda Kasabian, escaped conviction after she testified in exchange for immunity.

The sprawling property, which sits on 3.6 acres of land, was rebuilt and given a fresh start by architect Richard Landry.

The home spans 21,000sq ft and boasts incredible views of the city, coming complete with an infinity pool, loggia with indoor and outdoor access, home cinema, spa, gym and even a hair salon.

Outside, the pool has three waterfalls, two hot tubs, a 35-foot water slide, swim-up bar, private grotto and a lazy river.

There is even a detached guest house for entertaining.

The listing describes the home as “exuding opulence” with “unparalleled luxury”, and the “epitome of world class Beverly Hills luxury living”.

The mansion is currently available with Douglas Elliman Real Estate for $85 million.

But the Cielo Estate was not the only luxurious mansion the Mansons targetted during their murder spree.

The multi-million dollar home of murdered couple Leno and Rosemary LaBianca was sold in June last year - but for below asking price.

The home, which had been priced at $2.8 million (£2.2m), is nestled in the heart of Hollywood, Los Angeles.

The historic home currently belongs to ‘Full House’ creator Jeff Franklin (Jam Press/Douglas Elliman Real Estate/Christopher Amitrano)

It boasts an outdoor pool and a state-of-the-art interior, with a large private living space, a majestic garden and scenic views.

The house, located along Waverly Dr was formerly owned by Leno LaBianca and his wife, Rosemary.

The couple were brutally killed by cult leader Manson and members of his family at their home in August 1969.
