Luxury Manchester hotel to throw glamorous free 'thank you' ball for key workers

One of Manchester's most luxurious hotels will be throwing a celebratory ball, free of charge, for key workers.

Hotel Brooklyn says it wants to 'spoil' those who worked on the front line during the pandemic with a lavish night of dinner and entertainment.

The hotel is a relative newcomer in the city, opening on Portland Street last year just weeks before the country went into its first lockdown.

It comes from the same owners as Hotel Gotham and its decor is inspired by New York City.

The Thank You ball is set to take place on Sunday July 4 - Independence Day - for key workers, emergency services, volunteers and other essential workers who helped the nation stay safe through the pandemic.

The hotel is calling for nominations of local heroes to attend the grand event, which will include a champagne reception, a three-course meal, and live entertainment.

The hotel said: "We’re inviting you, the good and the great of Manchester, to a free night of dining and entertainment just to say ‘THANK YOU’ for keeping us safe and helping out through the pandemic."

It will all take place in the building's ninth-storey venue, Brooklyn Heights, where there are views across Manchester city centre through floor-to-ceiling windows.

To apply for a free ticket, key workers need to email their story - or nominate someone else - to info@hotelbrooklyn.co.uk by June 21.
