Luxury glamping site with rustic woodland theme and sleeping pods could open in Wallsend

Visitors to Wallsend may soon be able to camp in luxury if plans for a 'glamping' site are given the go-ahead.

Darron Clayton is behind plans to install three glamping pods on a field to the south of Rising Sun Farm, on Kings Road in North Wallsend.

According to a design and access statement submitted to the council the three timber structures will promote tourism in the area and create new jobs.

It said: "The proposals will create one new job for the site manager and will employ other staff on a part time nature for security and the like."

The land, know as the "brickyard field", is not being used and has been rented from the farm, something the statement claims will help the business "diversify its activities" and "secure its future".

The document claims that the hexagonal huts will "fit into the general rustic woodland theme" of the surrounding countryside.

It added that only two of buildings will be used for camping with the other being a reception building.

North Tyneside Council will decide whether to give permission for the scheme by January.
