TWO luxury glamping pod sites in the Borders have made it onto to a list of the top 25 new attractions in the UK.
Stouslie Snugs, just outside of Hawick, appears at number 10 spot on the glamping stays survey complied by The Times newspaper.
And another Borders attraction, Gorse Cabin, which offers jaunts through Deepsyke Forest and the Pentland Hills, is at number 20 on the list.
The report praises Stouslie Snugs (below) for its “lingering views of the mist-swirled Teviotdale Valley”, adding: “Even from the inside of one of the ‘snugs’, guests can gaze over the rolling hills through gaping floor-to-ceiling windows or idle in the tucked-away wood-fired hot tub, revelling in the farm’s utter seclusion.”
Meanwhile, Gorse Cabin, despite being only an hour-and-a-half from Edinburgh, is praised for its tranquil setting amid “heather-smothered hills and cacophony of insects that ensure its guests feel far from city life.”
There has been an explosion in glamping bids in the Borders over recent months and years, with weekly planning applications proposing new sites appearing on Scottish Borders Council’s planning portal.
That trend is set to continue with the growth and popularity of staycation breaks in the UK now well-established.

Number one on the list is By the Wye in Powys, an eco-enhancing treetop hideaway near to Hay-on-Wye in Wales.
Three nights self-catering for four at Stouslie Snugs costs from £500. Gorse Cabin is advertised at £145 – for two – for a one night’s stay.
