Luxury co-living block with pool, bar and spa planned for Canary Wharf 'to help millennials meet'

Events: how the bar could look (Picture: Denton Associates)

Plans for London’s most luxurious “co-living” development with in-house swimming pool, spa and cinema were revealed today.

The Collective in Canary Wharf will have 705 rooms in a 21-storey block, making it the world’s biggest scheme of its kind.

Leases on the studios and tiny apartments start from £1,300 a month, including all bills, and can be taken out for as little as a single night or up to a year. There will be one huge communal kitchen on the first floor to encourage millennial tenants to cook and eat together. However, each apartment will also have a basic kitchenette.

The swimming pool on level 20 is claimed to be the highest in east London. On the same floor there will be a bar and spa with sauna, gym, aerial silks studio and mindfulness zone. Other facilities include a virtual reality golf simulator and a music venue.

A cultural events programme that also encourages tenants to meet will have yoga, nutrition classes and mental health workshops.

It is the second co-living scheme from the company following the launch of Collective Old Oak in 2016. About three quarters of the residents are under 35.

The Collective’s founder, Reza Merchant, said: “Our mission is to build and activate spaces that foster human connection and enable people to lead more fulfilling lives.”
