Luxury car has window smashed and set on fire by thug on Scots street

Cops have launched a probe after a man smashed the window of a luxury car before setting it on fire in a late night attack.

Police were called to the Smithton area of Inverness last night after the incident at around 12.30am.

A man was seen smashing a window of a silver Mercedes C Class parked in Kenneth Place with the car then set ablaze by the man.

He ran away towards Murray Road and got into a white estate car which drove away at speed.

The man is described as 5'10", slim build, fair hair and was carrying a white bag under his arm.

Police Constable Lee Soley, of Inverness police, said "I'm keen to speak with anyone who may have seen the male in Kenneth Place, or anyone who may have seen the white estate car driving at speed in the area at the time of the fire".

Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference NN/5235/2
