Luxury candle and fragrance store brings Essence of Harris to Glasgow

Luxury candle and home fragrance company Essence of Harris has opened a new store at Princes Square in Glasgow.

The store will be run by seven new staff, most from Harris and Lewis as the company shows a commitment to the development of young people from the Outer Hebrides. Essence of Harris already had shops in Tarbert on Harris, Aberdeen and Edinburgh where its sells its own range including hand and body lotions, bathing products and reed diffusers.

Co-founder Jamie McGowan said: “The opening of our latest shop in Princes Square is a hugely proud moment for us as we showcase our hand-poured Scottish products to consumers in Glasgow. We’re lucky to have been able to create seven new jobs here in Glasgow, made up largely of young, dynamic staff members who hail from the Outer Hebrides themselves and who can share our story with consumers within Glasgow. Job creation is one of the key drivers behind our brand.”

Katie Moody of Princes Square said: “We’re delighted to welcome Essence of Harris - a successful and ambitious Scottish business - to Princes Square. Visitors to the centre come from near and far to enjoy the wide range of high quality retailers we have here and Essence of Harris will be a wonderful addition to that list.”
