Luxury £59m superyacht owned by former KGB Russian millionaire docks in Scots port

A £59m superyacht owned by a former KGB agent has docked in Greenock this week.

The huge vessel named Ragnar moored in Clydeport on its journey from sunny Gibraltar.

The luxurious boat, which comes with it's own helipad is understood to be owned by Russian millionaire Vladimir Strzhalkovsky who previously worked for his homeland's notorious intelligence organisation the KGB.

The Ragnar is currently up for sale for a cool £59m - or available to charter for an eye watering £382,000 per week.

The impressive boat was built in 2012 by Royal Niestern Sander, in The Netherlands, as an ice-breaking multipurpose support vessel but was later transformed into a luxury superyacht for the rich and wealthy.

It sleeps up to 12 guests in its eight lavish cabins, including two owners' suites, and 17 crew can be carried to serve their every whim.

Listed on Arcon Yachts, the superyacht is said to be fit for "long trips in any latitude of the world, including the Arctic", with the hull of the "brutal vessel" made of steel to handle all elements.

Lucky guests can enjoy an onboard salon with massage rooms, sauna, two swimming pools, one of them with ice water, snow room and gym.

It also comes with a top deck jacuzzi and fully certified helipad.

The yacht also comes with its own set of "toys" including jet skis, snowmobiles, and equipment to go diving, waterskiing and paddleboarding.

Greenock resident Sandra Wilson, who enjoys snapping the superyachts from her window, says Ragnar is the biggest yacht she's seen in the area.

Speaking to the Daily Record, she said: "Sometimes you get a wee rush of them coming to tour round the area or if they've got meetings somewhere in Scotland they might berth in Greenock and then go elsewhere.

"It's really just by chance if you see them. It's quite an exciting thing to see, it's just a wee hobby of ours to take pictures."

The 63-year-old, who works in a bank, has seen a number of mega-yachts come and go in the area but was impressed by Ragnar's size.

"I don't think I've seen one as big as that, some people thought the shape of it was a bit odd. There's usually a couple of these superyachts, they do come in different shapes and sizes", she said.

But the bank worker has never made it onboard any of the boats she has spotted from her window, and added: "Sometimes I Google them so I can have a look inside."
