Luxury £10m yacht linked to Michelle Mone ‘renamed’ by activists amid PPE controversy

A luxury yacht linked to Michelle Mone has been 'renamed' by political activists over a PPE controversy.

The 51-year-old underwear tycoon is at the centre of controversy over her alleged links to PPE Medpro - a firm awarded a PPE contract. She has denied any accusations of wrongdoing.

The 130ft Lady M yacht, which is worth £10million, is believed to be docked at Vilanova Grand Marina near Barcelona.

The campaign group Led by Donkeys are understood to have found the swanky vessel and plastered ‘Pandemic Profiteer’ on the side of it.

In the footage shared on social media earlier, activists in a dinghy can be seen brandishing the name across the yacht while the Titanic theme song plays in the background and dramatic drone shots flash across the screen.

A narrator says: “The government says it can’t afford to pay nurses and other workers a fair wage. But there was enough money to dish out PPE contracts to Tory cronies.

“We all paid for this yacht. And that’s why we’ve renamed it.”

Mone had recommended the company PPE Medpro to the UK Government during the covid pandemic, who went on to award the firm a £200million contract in May 2020 to produce medical gowns.

These were later alleged to not have been of "correct quality standards and specification".

The entrepreneur was accused of having profited from the lucrative deals, but "completely refuted" allegations of wrongdoing on her part or that of her husband Douglas Barrowman, who was allegedly linked to PPE Medpro.

Mone previously addressed the storm, stating: “I was asked to help at a time of national emergency. I declared all necessary interests and have done nothing wrong."

Baroness Mone took a leave of absence from the Lords following allegations linking her to the controversy.

Michelle Mone's representatives have been contacted for comment.
