Luton Town's late window bid for Newcastle United teenager Elliot Anderson fails

Newcastle United have told Championship side Luton Town they are unwilling to allow talented teenager Elliot Anderson to leave on loan.

Chronicle Live understands that the Hatters followed up their interest from last January and enquired about the playmaker's availability ahead of deadline day.

However, the mid-table Bedfordshire side were told that Anderson was still getting over a hip injury which ruled him out of the club's entire pre-season programme and how Newcastle want to keep a close eye on the 18-year-old for the next couple of months.

Of course, Anderson, who has already made his debut last season, is regarded as a first-team squad member and will be considered a back-up option when he gets back to full fitness.

The positive news for Anderson is that he is back in full training today and will be looking to catch the eye of Steve Bruce in the weeks ahead.

Luton are expected to keep tabs on Anderson in the first half of the season and could well swoop again after Christmas for the forward.

Although, there is expected to be plenty of interest in the player that signed a new professional deal with the Magpies last autumn.
