Luton Town make u-turn decision and recall Peter Kioso from Bolton Wanderers loan spell

Bolton Wanderers have suffered a blow after Luton Town made a u-turn and exercised an option to recall defender Peter Kioso from his loan spell.

The 21-year-old had been due to be at the University of Bolton Stadium for the season on loan.

He has played 16 times for the Trotters and scored three goals, becoming an ever present at right wing-back.

But Nathan Jones' Hatters have this morning confirmed that they have exercised an option to recall the defender from his time at the League Two club.

A statement on the Luton website read: "We can confirm that young defender Peter Kioso has today been recalled from his loan at Sky Bet League Two side Bolton Wanderers.

"The 21-year-old, signed just under a year ago from National League club Hartlepool United, has been gaining valuable experience out on loan at the University of Bolton Stadium.

"He had played 16 times for Ian Evatt's team, scoring three goals, since joining them in October following an impressive first start for the Hatters in the Carabao Cup third round tie against Manchester United."

Hatters boss Nathan Jones had previously suggested that the Championship club were happy with Kioso's progress at Bolton and it appeared from the outside that he was set to remain, prior to today's announcement.

Wanderers manager Ian Evatt said: "Naturally we are disappointed that Luton have recalled Peter, but it indicates just how well he has progressed with us.

“Since his arrival, he has had such a positive impact on our squad both on and off the pitch.

“There is no doubt that he as a bright future in the game and we wish him well.”
