Luton Town boss Mick Harford pays tribute to Bristol Rovers and Graham Coughlan after Hatters win

Luton Town caretaker boss Mick Harford has paid tribute to Bristol Rovers manager Graham Coughlan.

Harford's Hatters are racing away at the top of League One and beat the Gas 2-1 yesterday.

Yet Harford revealed that he has been impressed with how Coughlan has turned things around at Rovers since taking charge.

He said: “If you look at the game in two halves, I thought the first half we were very, very good, with our attacking play and the way we went about our business, and we could have been out of sight at half-time in terms of our chances and possession.

“I’ve got to be honest with you, they got a breakaway goal that Clarke-Harris finished really well, and then we came out for the second half and we weren’t as fluent as we usually are attacking wise.

“We ground out a really good result, and I take my hat off to the boys, they stuck at it.

“Our defensive shape was spot on and, overall, I thought we deserved to win.”

He added: “It’s a massive, massive, pleasing result for us.

“It’s tough coming down here, the way Graham has got them playing.

“He’s turned it round and they’re a tough team to beat.

“We knew there’d be a reaction after the game at Doncaster and there was a reaction, a good reaction.

“It put us on the back foot, the game settled down after 15 or 20 minutes and I’ve got to give the lads credit for grinding through that.”
