Luton Town boss admits interest in Bristol City and Rangers target hated by Celtic

Luton Town caretaker manager Mick Harford says the club are aware of Graeme Shinnie's availability.

The Aberdeen captain is out of contract in the summer and was last year linked with a move to Bristol City.

Whilst the Robins instead opted to bolster their backline with the signings of Tomas Kalas, Adam Webster and Jay Dasilva, they could well be tempted to renew their interests in the 27-year-old this summer if he is available on a free.

Yet they will face competition from long-term admirers Wigan Athletic, and Rangers have also been linked to the defender - a move that could well prove popular amongst Gers fans after Shinnie's high-profile clashes with Celtic captain Scott Brown over the last 12 months.

Yet Harford, head of recruitment at Kenilworth Road and caretaker boss following the departure of Nathan Jones to Stoke City, says the Hatters have been alerted to Shinnie's current status - especially with brother Andrew Shinnie currently playing for them.

'I've given Lee Johnson a headache' - Aidy Boothroyd on brilliant Ashton Gate fans and Bristol City

He told Luton Today: "We have a scout up in Scotland, he gives us great information about the players up there.

"Graeme Shinnie is I believe is on a lot of club’s radars and he’s just someone that’s been alerted to us.

"There’s nothing in it at the moment, but we always have an interest in good players.

"I know him very well, I’ve watched him numerous times, he’s a holding midfield player, can cover full back and he obviously has a big connection here with his brother."
