Luton's Jordan Clark stretchered off as Sam Johnstone left visibly upset after horror collision

Luton Town's Jordan Clark was stretchered off after a bad-looking collision in their Championship game at West Bromwich Albion today.

The Hatters' midfielder was attempting to latch onto a long ball when he collided with home goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.

Medical staff were quickly on the scene as Clark lay on the floor. Play was stopped for a considerable amount of time as medics attended to the 27-year-old. The incident happened just five minutes into the second half at the Hawthorns.

The player was eventually stretchered off to a warm reception from the entire ground. More than 1,400 Luton fans showed their appreciation in the away end, producing a chant of "There's only one Jordan Clark."

Johnstone was said to be "visibly upset" in the aftermath of the incident.

Luton's official Twitter account posted updates: "A real bad collision here.

"Attempting to latch onto Lansbury's lofted ball, Clark crashes into Johnstone and is needing attention from the medical staff.

"After a lengthy stoppage, Clark is stretchered off to a chorus of "there's only one Jordan Clark" from the away supporters.

"Praying for a quick recovery, Clicker."

The incident came with the hosts in command and holding a 2-0 lead.

Kal Naismith's own goal gave Valerien Ismael's side the lead before Callum Robinson struck a second before the break.

Karlan Grant added a third for the hosts and they looked to have easily sewn up the win with the score at 3-0.

But Luton didn't quit and Harry Cornick pulled one back to make it 3-1 before Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu made for a nervy finish, but Albion just about held on for a 3-2 win.
