Lurgan Councillor labels schools parking "quite deplorable"

A Lurgan alderman has described some of the parking he has witnessed outside local primary schools in the past number of weeks as “quite deplorable”.

Speaking at Council’s monthly meeting on November 22, Alderman Stephen Moutray implored motorists to think not only of their speed as they drive around local primary schools but also how they park their vehicles.

“I would ask that in addition to watching their speed around primary schools for motorist to consider how they park around primary schools, sometimes it is quite deplorable,” he said.

“Over this past number of weeks I have met with the Roads Department, the PCSP and the police. The police have a role to play policing in the area.

“I have stood out for a couple of mornings watching and really, you would take your heart in your mouth when you see what is going on some times.

“I only hope that common sense prevails.”
