Lupita Nyong'o to receive CinemaCon's Star of the Year Award

Lupita Nyong'o to receive CinemaCon Star of the Year Award

CinemaCon, the official convention of the National Association of Theatre Owners, is gearing up to kickstart another exciting year of industry discussions and announcements. And what better way to begin than by recognizing the exceptional talent of Lupita Nyong'o, who will be honored with the CinemaCon Star of the Year Award.

Scheduled to take place on April 11 at the Colosseum in Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, the Big Screen Achievement Awards will celebrate Nyong'o's outstanding contributions to the film industry. This recognition comes hot on the heels of her upcoming leading role in the highly anticipated Paramount Pictures prequel, A Quiet Place: Day One, set to hit theaters on June 28.

In the upcoming thriller, directed by Michael Sarnoski, Nyong'o stars alongside Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff, and Djimon Hounsou as they navigate a world shattered by silence. A Quiet Place: Day One is a production in association with Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes and Sunday Night Production. Allyson Seeger and Vicki Dee Rock serve as executive producers, while heavyweights such as Michael Bay, Andrew Form, Brad Fuller, and John Krasinski join the project as producers.

Over the past decade, Lupita Nyong'o has solidified her status as one of the most talented and respected actors of our time. Her breakthrough role in the Academy Award-winning film, 12 Years a Slave, garnered her critical acclaim and multiple accolades, including an Oscar, SAG Award, Critics Choice Award, Spirit Award, and NAACP Image Award.

Since then, Nyong'o has continued to captivate audiences with her diverse range of roles. From her chilling performance in the horror hit, Us, to her regal portrayal in Black Panther and its upcoming sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, she consistently delivers memorable performances that leave a lasting impression.

However, Nyong'o's talent isn't limited to the big screen. She received a Tony nomination for her Broadway debut in Eclipsed and even won an Emmy for narrating her New York Times best-selling children’s book, Sulwe.

Recognized around the globe for her immense talent and magnetic presence, Lupita Nyong'o truly embodies the essence of a Star of the Year. CinemaCon and the global exhibition community are honored to acknowledge her as the recipient of this prestigious award.

CinemaCon, taking place from April 8-11 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, attracts more than 6,000 motion picture professionals from various corners of the industry, including exhibition, distribution, marketing, promotion, equipment, and concessions. The event serves as a platform for industry leaders to connect, share insights, and showcase the latest advancements in cinema technology.

This year, the International Cinema Technology Association (ICTA) and the National Association of Concessionaires (NAC) will join CinemaCon as tradeshow partners. Coca-Cola, on the other hand, will proudly serve as the official presenting sponsor for this much-anticipated event.

As CinemaCon prepares to unfold, the spotlight shines brightly on Lupita Nyong'o as she prepares to receive the CinemaCon Star of the Year Award. Her remarkable talent, dedication, and ability to immerse audiences in her characters have cemented her as a true icon of the silver screen. We eagerly anticipate the next awe-inspiring chapter in her impressive career.
