Luncarty set for new challenge after being accepted into East of Scotland League

Luncarty will begin a new chapter when football returns after being accepted into the East of Scotland League.

The Bleachers have decided to end their ties with the Junior game and are excited to set upon a fresh challenge with the chance to rise through the ranks.

Brownlands Park players had most recently been plying their trade in the East Region’s North Super League before the coronavirus outbreak halted the season.

They become the third Perthshire team to make the move to the East of Scotland League, following on from successful transitions for Jeanfield and Kinnoull in recent years.

Scone Thistle, Blairgowrie and Coupar Angus remain the region's representatives in Junior football.

A Luncarty statement read:  “At tonight’s [April 30] Extraordinary General Meeting member clubs of the East of Scotland League voted to accept our club’s application for membership on condition the board is satisfied our club fully complies with the entry criteria by the end of its first season in membership, with the proviso that failure to comply by then will result in membership being reviewed.

“We would like to record our sincere thanks to the Scottish Junior FA and the East Region committees that have administered the leagues and cups during our time in junior football.

“There will be further information announced in the coming weeks.”

Manager Robbie Holden has been busy re-signing members of the squad and is working to add another few faces in the coming weeks and months.

More to follow.
