Luncarty boss hails squad strength after signing talented striker Aaron Carlon

Luncarty manager Robbie Holden was thrilled to win the race to sign promising talent Aaron Carlon.

The young striker is the latest recruit to join up with the Brownlands Park squad ahead of their debut season in the East of Scotland League’s Conference B.

Carlon, described as a “direct” and “very tricky” player, attracted the attention of numerous clubs after impressing while playing with Junior side Scone Thistle in recent years.

“I’m really pleased to get Aaron in,” Bleachers boss Holden told the PA. “I’ve been aware of him for a couple of years but saw him closely last year and was very impressed.

“I know he had a number of offers so for him to choose Luncarty is a great indicator of the direction we are looking to go in.

“It took longer than planned to get it done - I joked with him last night that it was like the Messi saga.

“Aaron is direct, very tricky. He can take players on, draw defenders out and can score goals. That’s what we will be looking for him to add.

“Scone have done a great job with him as he’s still very young but he has progressed very well playing regularly there, at a high standard, particularly last year which resulted in a number of teams looking to sign him.

“Stepping up from youths to adult football isn’t easy and he has that experience in the bank now.”

Carlon may well be the final piece in the Luncarty puzzle, although manager Holden wouldn’t completely rule out further transfer activity.

He said: “We are very happy with the squad. There is competition all over the park which is what we need to compete.

“We always look out for good players to improve the team but we now have a strong squad and would only add if it real quality becomes available.”
