'Luminous yellow cat' - Nottingham Forest ace's brilliant verdict after big win

A buoyant Nottingham Forest dressing room enjoyed the Reds’ return to winning ways against Blackburn Rovers.

After feeling they deserved a result in midweek, when they lost to Swansea City despite putting in one of their best performances of the season, Forest bounced back on the banks of the Trent.

They triumphed by a single goal at the City Ground as Alex Mighten bagged for the first time on home turf.

But it also took a crucial penalty save from goalkeeper Brice Samba to make sure of the three points.

And he was dubbed “the luminous yellow cat” by teammate Lyle Taylor, who also teased Mighten over the deflection which took his strike past stopper Thomas Kaminski.

The striker wrote on Instagram: “Hugely important 3 points today! Not sure you can claim that goal though @alexmighten... And what a save from the luminous yellow cat @brice_samba1 well done gents!!! #TrickyTrees #NFFC”

Fellow forward Glenn Murray posted on social media: “Good start to a big week.”

And Samba said: “Still in safe hands no worries lads #nffcubeauty”

Samba produced a fantastic save to keep out Adam Armstrong’s penalty, after the goalkeeper had himself brought down Ryan Nyambe to concede the 73rd-minute spot-kick.

In the end Mighten’s deflected finish in the 26th minute was enough to secure three precious points for Chris Hughton’s side.

They are now up to 17th in the Championship table, with a seven-point gap over the bottom three.

Forest now make the trip to face Rotherham on Tuesday night, ahead of a meeting with arch-rivals Derby County at Pride Park on Friday evening.
