Lume apartments make a splash on Newcastle waterfront

The covers have come off one of Newcastle's new landmark apartment buildings.

Lume, which comprises 144 units and 10 two-storey "town homes", is the first of three seven- and eight-storey residential developments under construction on the Honeysuckle waterfront.

The Doma-built apartments sold out off the plan in a few days in 2017 when they went on the market ranging in price from $450,000 to about $3 million. Workers started removing scaffolding from the complex late last week, revealing a white and green colour palette.

Doma has also started work on the Huntington apartments next door, and Miller Property plans to build 105 apartments across three buildings in its Horizon on the Harbour development.

Hunter and Central Coast Development Corporation will build a park and promenade in front of the apartment complexes as part of a $55 million makeover at Honeysuckle.

The Newcastle Herald reported this week that the number of cranes in the Newcastle area had reached a record high of 17 in March.
