Lulu filmed dancing along with city centre buskers - much to the surprise of passing fans

Scottish singing legend Lulu took passer-bys by surprise when she decided to join in with some buskers on a city centre street.

The artist, who introduced the world the the song Shout, could be seen "having a bop" along with musicians.

It wasn't long before adoring fans noticed who she was - circling the star, joining in and asking for photographs.

As more and more people started clocking that it was the Glaswegian songstress dancing in front of them a small crowd formed around her, but she was more than happy to mingle and take photos, as Chronicle Live reports.

Uploading a video of her impromptu meet and greet to her Instagram , Lulu wrote "Having a bop in btw my shop in Newcastle ... bloody love being on tour.."

The hilarious encounter took place in Newcastle ahead of her appearance on Take That's huge gig in Middlebrough last night.

Her followers were quick to comment, with one reacting "Aww absolutely fab... time for everyone n this is why we all love ya hope I meet u 1 day," and another writing "Poor Lulu you just wanted an impromptu bop and you kept getting mithered for selfies."

One of the girls in the clip posted underneath "I’m on this video, thank you for the pic x" and another selfie grabber commented "Thank you Lulu for helping me with the selfie yesterday, you are a lovely lady and still a great singer."
