Luksika Kumkhum will begin her Australian Open campaign against home hope Ashleigh Barty today.
The Thai world No.66 is scheduled to play 15th seed Barty in the first match of the night session on Margaret Court Arena.
It will be a tough test for the 25-year-old Luksika as the in-form Barty, who is three years younger, is on a seven-match winning streak before losing the final of the Sydney International to Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic on Saturday.
Luksika made it to the third round in Melbourne last year for her career-best Grand Slam performance.
The Chanthaburi native claimed the biggest title of her career when she won the Mumbai Open in November last year.
Last year Barty won two WTA titles, reached the fourth round at the US Open and earlier this week beat world No.1 Simona Halep of Romania in Sydney.
