Luke Williams pinpoints 'concerning' factor present in Eastleigh win

Notts County boss Luke Williams admits it is becoming a concern that his side are continually giving away the first goal in his post-match assessment of the win over Eastleigh.

The Magpies fell behind for the third consecutive game courtesy of Danny Whitehall's penalty after a foul from Aden Baldwin, giving the Spitfires the advantage at the interval.

But just as they had done against Dorking last Saturday, Notts produced a much improved second-half display, inspired by Ruben Rodrigues, to close the gap at the top of the standings to just a point ahead of their trip to Barnet this weekend.

"It's concerning me a lot," explained Williams after full-time on the frustrations of conceding the first goal of the game yet again on home soil.

"I understand that I don't expect us to feel any pressure against us at all, but we certainly need to be ready from the beginning of the game and treat every game like a cup final with incredible game plans from very good managers and incredible energy from very good players that we are finding it difficult to deal with at the beginning of games.

"What they use up at the beginning they sacrifice at the end so if we would preferably like to keep a clean sheet in the first 15 minutes then we have a great chance to keep a clean sheet for the remainder of the game."

Williams named newest recruit Connor Lemonheigh-Evans in the starting line-up for the first time since arriving from Stockport on loan last month - with the Welshman putting on an encouraging showing while also getting an important 90 minutes under his belt.

The 26-year-old also played his part in the attacking third, winning the initial header that led to Rodrigues' second of the game - with the Magpies chief insisting there is plenty more to come from the striker moving forward.

"I think he did great - I know Connor a bit better than some of the other guys because I have worked with him at Bristol.

"When he is at full tilt and when he is match fit he is going to be up another couple of levels from what we are already seeing so I am really optimistic about him being a key player for us going forward."
