Luke Williams makes Geraldo Bajrami admission after Notts County display against Dorking

Notts County boss Luke Williams says one of the most pleasing aspects of his side's 3-1 win over Dorking Wanderers was the performance of Geraldo Bajrami.

With Magpies skipper Kyle Cameron missing the game through illness, the Albanian retained his place in the starting line-up despite experiencing a difficult first half at Hayes Lane last weekend, which resulted in his substitution at the interval.

But as part of the more usual back three this evening, the 22-year-old put on a composed showing alongside Connell Rawlinson and Adam Chicksen - commanding his area well and relieving a spell of pressure from Marc White's side during the second half.

"I think that's the most pleasing thing for me," said Williams on Bajrami's performance this evening.

"The resilience that he has, that is the most pleasing thing for me - he was fantastic and I am so happy for him.

"I have had some difficult conversations with Baj in recent weeks and I can't wait to have an easy one as soon as he is back in for training."

With the Notts captain unavailable for the fixture with Dorking, Williams was tasked with finding a player to take the armband ahead of another important clash in the race for promotion.

Matty Palmer is the only other player to wear the armband this season during the FA Trophy - with Williams naming Macaulay Langstaff as the man to lead his side out at Meadow Lane this evening.

And the stand-in skipper may be asking Cameron if he can keep the title of captain, with his brace taking his total for the season to 35 goals with nine games to go as he inspired an important comeback victory.

Speaking on the decision to name Langstaff as the captain this evening, Williams said: "First of all, I go into the changing rooms because we had news about Kyle Cameron this morning and I said Macca you are going to lead the team out.

"He went bright red and looked down to the floor and embarrassed like he shouldn't lead the team out - and then I said you are everything we are trying to do.

"You are committed, never get carried away, and don't have a big ego and that is what the guy is and today is yet another example of everything good about him."
