Luke Stocker contract: Details on tight end’s 2-year deal with the Falcons

The Falcons signed former Titans tight end Luke Stocker to a two-year deal last week in the first wave of free agency. When the team announced the move, no financial details were included. The figures are out now, though. Apparently, Stocker’s deal will pay him $4 million in base salary with prorated bonuses that bring the total to $5.5 million.

Here’s how it all breaks down, according to this chart from Over the Cap.

Stocker’s salary suggests that the Falcons see him as the No. 2 behind Austin Hooper on the depth chart and their primary blocking tight end. Third-year tight end Eric Saubert and veteran Logan Paulsen will likely split the remaining snaps.

If nothing else, Stocker brings familiarity to the offense. He has worked with both offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter and tight ends coach Mike Mularkey before.

When he’s on the field, expect to see a lot of Stocker lining up to the right of Ty Sambrailo, who may need some help as he becomes the new starter at right tackle in place of Ryan Schraeder.
