Luke Steele's exit has got one of his Nottingham Forest teammates feeling all 'emotional'

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Luke Steele completed a deadline day loan move to Millwall yesterday.

It may only be for a five-month stint, but one of his teammates has joked Steele’s departure was still enough to leave him feeling “emotional”.

The Reds shot-stopper will spend the first half of the season with the Lions on a temporary deal set to run until January, having found himself down the pecking order at the City Ground.

As some of his Forest colleagues wished him well, following confirmation of the move, defender Tendayi Darikwa wrote on Twitter: “Good luck my friend @lukeysteele1 gonna miss you.” And he added a tearful face and a heart emoji for good measure.

Another Twitter user responded: “It’s a 5 month loan deal lad, don’t cry.”

Darikwa’s reply of, ‘can’t help it. Emotional!’, earned some crying with laughter emojis from Steele himself.

Darikwa is currently sidelined with a ruptured ACL, which is likely to keep him out of action for several months.

Steele was the only player to head out of the exit door for the Reds on deadline day, while the club did complete the double signing of defender Chema Rodriguez and midfielder John Bostock, on a two-year deal from Levante and on loan from Toulouse, respectively.
