Luke Shaw sets himself Manchester United challenge following goal vs Derby

Luke Shaw admits he is hoping to add more goals to his game after netting his second Manchester United goal on Thursday night.

English left-back Shaw netted his first goal of the season when he drilled an effort into the ground and saw it loop over Derby goalkeeper Kelle Roos.

Although the effort came from Shaw there was some debate whether he should be awarded the goal after it took a slight touch off Jesse Lingard's back, however he is certain the goal is his.

The fine strike marked Shaw's first goal for United since he netted against Leicester on the opening day of last season and now he is hungry for even more.

"No, I'm claiming it!" he told BT Sport.

"No chance. He can't claim that. I think there was just too much spin because I didn't hit it correctly really but, I'm taking the goal. Jesse can't claim that.

"Whatever happens I am claiming it, but no, I'm very happy. Most importantly the win and obviously another clean sheet for the boy, and hopefully more goals for me to come.

"We are in a very confident period. We are scoring and keeping it out at the back. Massive game on Sunday, we are looking forward to that one."
