Luke Shaw responds to Jose Mourinho comments after Manchester United and England displays

Luke Shaw says isn't listening to Jose Mourinho's comments anymore, after playing another starring role for England at Euro 2020.

The Manchester United left-back has been in stellar form for club and country in the past year and contributed two assists in the Three Lions' stunning 4-0 win over Ukraine on Saturday night.

Shaw actually drew praise from Mourinho for his display in Rome, with the former United boss — currently working on British radio — claiming the 25-year-old is "getting better and better".

But the Portuguese was once a fierce critic of Shaw during their time together at Old Trafford, making barbs about the former Southampton man's fitness. He has continued some of that criticism as a pundit but Shaw has insisted he isn't bothered by what Mourinho says.

Speaking after the quarter-final win, he said: “No, look, that doesn't matter. I think Jose has his opinion. He's obviously working for talkSPORT. It's freedom of speech and he can say whatever he likes.

"I just keep going, keep my head down, ignore everything and just focus on what's going on inside the camp.

"My main objective is to help England. No matter what, I'll give everything for them and I'll keep on doing that."

Shaw has previously credited United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for his improvement, but now thanked England manager Gareth Southgate for his faith.

He added: “I could go through a lot of people to thank but I think the most important one is obviously Gareth for trusting me and putting me in the squad and picking me and playing me.

“But maybe even myself because a lot of people will have doubted me being in the squad and to play maybe.

"But I've kept my head down, kept working hard and hopefully I can keep this responsibility up for the manager."
