Luke Shaw explains how Manchester United players reacted to Chelsea draw in Premier League top four chase

Luke Shaw says Manchester United players are 'gutted' to drop points against Chelsea in a crucial game in the race to finish in the Premier League top four.

United took the lead against Chelsea in a positive first half, but David de Gea's error allowed Marcos Alonso to equalise and United could not find a winner after the break.

The draw leaves Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men three points adrift of the top four with just two games remaining, and Shaw admitted the dressing room was downbeat after the game.

When asked if the team were frustrated, he told MUTV that the game reflected a pattern across the whole season.

"Yeah of course, and gutted," he said.

"The first half was brilliant. We had a game plan and stuck to it. We had chances, more than one and we didn't take them. It's the moral of our season really. We've had so many chances and to take them and that's what's cost us again today.

"The first half was good, but second half we lacked urgency. We knew we needed to win the game, and I think we were just maybe hoping for that bit of luck that might have brought us a goal. Really the talent within our team we maybe should have been pushing on more."

But despite his honest assessment of United's season, Shaw insisted the team will not give up on their top four ambitions until it is mathematically impossible.

He continued: "We're all devastated and gutted but you've seen the way the Prem's going at the moment. Anything can happen.

"There's still two more games but obviously it's in their hands now, We just need to keep winning our last two and see where that takes us."
