Luke 'Ming' Flanagan reports disgusting TikTok trolls to gardai after threats made against six-year-old daughter

Luke 'Ming' Flanagan has had to go to the gardai after a number of threats were made to his six-year-old daughter via TikTok.

The Independent MEP has almost 2,000 followers on the popular social media channel - but was targeted by a disgusting troll in the middle of the night earlier this week.

Mr Flanagan posted the horrible comments from a user to his other social media accounts, including threats made directly at his six-year-old daughter Saoirse.

He said: "I've just left Castlerea Garda Station after reporting threats on my TikTok account towards my 6 year old daughter. We've been advised by the Gardai to get security for our house This is so wrong. It's impossible to do one's job in this situation."

One of the comments read: "I'll sacrifice Saoirse's soul" and "get your kid on a leash".

Friends and colleagues rushed to support Flanagan in the replies and quote tweets.

Campaigner Vera Twomey said:" Absolutely horrified when I heard this today. You Luke are one of the kindest people I've met on this journey. To attack you would be bad enough but to bring the children into it is beyond deplorable. Thinking of ye all"

Earlier today, Mr Flanagan provided an update on the incident.

He tweeted: "The situation has been resolved. The person who did this has came forward and admitted to posting the comments. They are young and confused. I've been there myself. I hold no grudge and I have requested that no further action to be taken. Just delighted to get a resolution. Many thanks to the Detectives in Castlerea Garda Station. They were very good. Thanks @gardainfo"
