Luke McCullough signs non-contract deal with Tranmere Rovers

Northern Ireland defender Luke McCullough has signed a non-contract deal with Tranmere Rovers.

The 25-year-old has been out of action since damaging knee ligaments in March last year.

He suffered the set-back whilst on loan with Tranmere from Doncaster Rovers, where he made 37 appearances in League Two, helping Tranmere seal promotion through the play-offs.

McCullough was released by Doncaster in the summer and been training with Tranmere in a bid to regain full fitness.

“Luke is now at a stage in his recovery where he needs games,” Rovers boss Micky Mellon told the club website.

“He’s worked incredibly hard to get to this stage now and this is the next part of his fight back to fitness.”

McCullough was of part of Michael O’Neill’s Euro 2016 squad in France.

He won the last of his six Northern Ireland caps in a friendly against Costa Rica in June 2018.
