Luke Freeman to Nottingham Forest transfer latest - what he has said, Leeds United interest and more

Luke Freeman has been linked with a move to Nottingham Forest this month.

Reports claim the Reds are interested in signing the Sheffield United midfielder, who has struggled to break into Chris Wilder's Premier League squad this season.

He joined the Blades for £5million in the summer from Queens Park Rangers after 18 months at Loftus Road.

Freeman signed a three-year contract at Bramall Lane but has found appearances - particularly in the League - hard to come by.

So a move away wouldn't be entirely surprising.

But Forest - what's the deal there? Here's everything you need to know...

What's the story?

Luke Freeman is another name thrown into the pot of possible arrivals at Nottingham Forest this month.

The Sheffield United man has failed to pin down a regular place in Chris Wilder’s Premier League newboys, which has increased speculation that he could be keen on moving in search of first team football.

Leeds United, like Forest, are keen on adding to their attacking ranks in the January window and are another Championship outfit to be linked with a move for former QPR playmaker, who made a summer move to Bramall Lane for £5m.

What's he said?

"It's news to me completely,” Freeman told the Sheffield Star.

“I'm enjoying my time at United, I'm enjoying the Premier League.

“So all I can do is keep working hard, and long may it continue.

“I just want to keep my head down and see where it takes me."

How's his career played out so far?

Dartford-born Freeman started his career in Charlton Athletic's youth ranks before moving on to Gillingham to finish his development.

He made just one League outing for the Kent side before joining Arsenal.

Freeman struggled to break into the Emirates Stadium side's first-team and spent time out on loan at Yeovil Town and Stevenage before signing for the latter permanently.

From Stevenage he moved to Bristol City, spending two-and-a-half years at Ashston Gate until he joined QPR.

Who else is in for him?

Leeds United are said to be keen on the 27-year-old too.

It was claimed last week that Marcelo Bielsa's side are keen on strengthening their ranks with the addition of Freeman.

Leeds are second in the Championship table but have faltered of late. New additions will be crucial this month for the Whites if they are to end their 16-year stay outside the Premier League this season.
