Luke Freeman's absence for Nottingham Forest against Swansea City explained

Luke Freeman missed Nottingham Forest's 1-0 defeat to Swansea City after his wife gave birth the day before the game.

The on-loan Sheffield United forward is set to return to the squad for the visit of Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, though.

"Luke's wife had her baby yesterday and that's brilliant news. I'm sure he'll be available for the next game. He'll train tomorrow or Friday," manager Chris Hughton said.

The Reds boss also hopes to have Ryan Yates back from injury for the Rovers match, although Sammy Ameobi, Samba Sow and Scott McKenna are still out.

Harry Arter, who is not in Forest's 25-man squad at present, is also still out.

Hughton says having a deep squad will be important with an intense period of games to come.

"We'll need the squad. There's a lot of midweek games coming up," he said.

"We've got two very tough away games coming up the week after next. We'll need the squad.

"We've got Ryan Yates, who is training at the moment. We'll see if he's available for the weekend.

"Ameobi and Samba Sow are the next two closest. I don't think we have any problems from tonight.

"Arter and Scott are a bit longer but with those three lads getting close, hopefully that gives us more depth."
