Luke Campbell predicts world title success despite Vasyl Lomachenko defeat

Luke Campbell is more confident than ever he can win a world title despite his defeat by Vasyl Lomachenko.

The Brit produced a gutsy display against the unified lightweight champion last Saturday but ultimately fell short.

He left the ring to a huge ovation from the sold-out crowd however and wants to seize upon his new-found recognition.

Campbell said: "The fans and everyone who watched it loved the fight, I haven't had any negative comments and that's good.

"I feel like my stock has definitely risen, I didn't win the fight but I won over a lot of people and I won a lot of respect and gained a lot of new fans.

"I want to fight again before the end of the year to keep the momentum, I'm not going anywhere until I win a world title."

Campbell was awarded just one round against a fighter widely considered the best in the world - but feels he acquitted himself far better than the judges' verdict.

"There are definitely things I can improve on and I'm excited to work on the mistakes I made," he added.

"I left it all in the ring, I gave everything on the night; he didn't make it easy for me and vice-versa, I didn't make it easy for him.

"Whenever he caught me I was coming back with something and I thought a lot of the rounds were really close.

"I thought the scorecards were bulls***, it didn't reflect the fight whatsoever so that's a bit of a downer."
