Luke Ayling may be in a race to be fit for Leeds United clash

A social media post from Luke Ayling’s partner has led to some panic among Leeds United fans with regards to his availability on Saturday.

Poppy Weller posted an update on Instagram showing the Leeds defender unwell in bed on Thursday night.

After missing pre-season, Ayling missed the first two months of the season through injury, but he’s been once again been a regular for Marcelo Bielsa’s side since returning at the start of October.

He’s started the last five matches for Leeds, most recently filling in as a right-sided centre-half as Bielsa deployed a back three in last weekend’s 2-0 win over QPR.

“Looking after poorly boy @Luke_ayling2” reads the caption on the update, prompting speculation he’ll join Eddie Nketiah, Ezgjan Alioski, Jamie Shackleton and Adam Forshaw on the sidelines for the visit of Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

Should he miss out, it’s likely Stuart Dallas will continue to deputise at right-back.
