Luke Ayling has insisted Leeds United are still adapting to life in the Premier League after their 3-0 reverse against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Whites were beaten comfortably by Jose Mourinho's side as they were once again undone defensively by one of the Premier League's top-six sides.
Leeds have now conceded 33 goals in 17 matches, almost an average of two per game, a tally only West Brom can better.
Despite their defensive frailties, Leeds have impressed with their brand of expansive, free-flowing football.
The team are still trying to find the right balance between staying true to their philosophy and being competitive against the top sides, particularly on the road.
Ayling delivered a reminder that, for many Leeds players, this is their debut Premier League and they are still learning with every game.
“Us boys are still learning this league and we’ve learned the hard ways a couple of times.
“I think most of us are still 17 games into it, it can take a lot of time to settle into it. It’s been a real tough week, with three games in six days - it’s what we live for - but to take six points from those three games is still a good week.
“I think we’ve worked under the boss now for three years, it’s our third season with him and we know what he wants.
“There’s been ups and downs, and a few spells where we haven’t been good enough and a few games where we’ve well and truly been spanked off the park, but we have 23 points. It’s still a good start and we need to make sure we make it a good middle and a good ending.”
