Lukasz Fabianski latest: West Ham goalkeeper out until 2020 after undergoing surgery

West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski on Saturday underwent surgery on his hip injury as his rehabilitation continues.

Fabianski pulled up after taking a goal kick during the 2-2 draw at Bournemouth at the end of September and, Standard Sport understands, has been ruled out for three months.

Hammers co-owner David Gold tweeted on Saturday morning: "Just to update you all, the surgery on Lukasz Fabianski’s hip went as planned this morning in London.

"He will hopefully be discharged later today. Speedy recovery Lukasz."

Veteran Spanish back-up Roberto, who arrived during the summer, is Fabianski's stand-in until 2020 and made his Premier League debut in the 2-1 home loss to Crystal Palace before the international break.

David Martin, signed on a free transfer from Millwall in the summer, will now be on the bench while Fabianski is out.

Bournemouth's Dan Gosling underwent a similar operation in late July and is aiming to return to the pitch when Premier League action resumes later this month.
